Overview

Universal Data Mover Gateway (UDMG) is Stonebranch's Managed File Transfer (MFT) solution. UDMG goes beyond standard business-to-business MFT solutions by providing securely managed file transfer capabilities, tightly integrated with Stonebranch's Workload Automation solution, Universal Automation Center (UAC).

UDMG supports secure transfers with both internal and external partners and offers centralized visibility into all automated workflows, helping you maintain control over your data exchanges. UDMG allows you to:

  • Configure and automate complex file transfers with intuitive pipelines.
  • Rapidly onboard partners with streamlined account setup.
  • Monitor all transfer activities through a centralized management interface.
  • Secure sensitive data with enterprise-grade proxies, encryption, and authentication.
  • Scale your file transfer operations to meet growing business demands.
  • UDMG is available for all enterprises and can be deployed in a hybrid environment (on-premises and cloud) and within Stonebranch's SaaS environment.

Key Concepts

UDMG is built to handle today's existing business-to-business file transfers, tomorrow's cloud-to-cloud file transfers, and seamlessly bridge these two worlds. UDMG is a next-generation file transfer solution that provides the ability to establish, manage, and monitor secure file transfers by leveraging three key concepts:

  1. Providing a flexible architecture and configuration to take advantage of emerging data transfer and storage technologies.
  2. Integrating file transfers with enterprise-grade automation through UAC.
  3. Bridging traditional and cloud-based transfer environments. These innovative concepts distinguish UDMG from conventional MFT solutions in the marketplace, delivering an unparalleled file transfer experience that balances enterprise-grade security with operational simplicity while providing the flexibility to grow with emerging transfer technologies.

Pipelines

To address the complexities of managing large-scale file transfers securely across numerous partners, platforms, and ecosystems, UDMG uses the concept of a "Pipeline".

A Pipeline is a workflow or route for file transfers, starting at a Source Endpoint and ending at a Destination Endpoint. Pipelines are designed to be flexible and scalable, easily onboarding new Accounts (partners, internal/external users, customers, businesses, organizations) as they work with you. The Pipeline concept provides the foundation for supporting complex file transfer use cases and enabling a generic concept that allows for incorporating future technologies.

UDMG Secure Proxy

A companion product to UDMG, Stonebranch's UDMG Secure Proxy (USP) works in concert with UDMG to provide a high-security solution for organizations that need to exchange data with their external business partners, without placing UDMG in the organization's network DMZ and without requiring inbound holes through the network firewall. USP securely brokers file transfers initiated from external connections by interrupting and pre-authenticating sessions in the DMZ before relaying them to UDMG. This relay occurs through a secure tunnel initiated from within the network.

UAC Integration

File transfers rarely exist in isolation within enterprise operations. Every data exchange typically requires pre-processing activities before transmission and post-processing workflows after receipt. These supporting processes range from basic data exports to sophisticated data pipelines encompassing transformations, validations, analytics, and report generation. To deliver a complete end-to-end solution, UDMG seamlessly integrates with UAC, an enterprise-grade automation and orchestration platform. Through intelligent event handling and robust API connectivity, UDMG and UAC work in unison to automate the entire business workflow, ensuring that file transfers become part of a comprehensive, orchestrated process rather than isolated data movements.
